The Exiled: No Land’s Man

English translation

The Exiled: No Land’s Man
by R. Fernandez and W. Alarcon, Wall City Magazine Fall 2023

I came here believing in the American dream. I still believe in it. But that dream quickly becomes a nightmare when you’re a minority with legal troubles. They weaponize it against you, to disgrace…you… It’s a stigma that will follow you even when charges are dropped or your conviction is ultimately overturned.  It’s a permanent tattoo on your soul.
Now I’m an alien in America, my adoptive land, as I will soon be in my motherland.

Anand Jon Alexander, (India) a pro act advocate for racial justice, and the inspiration behind California Assembly Bill 1909
